The Caracol, Chichen Itza

This structure known as the Caracol, which means snail in Spanish
and refers to it's spiral shaped interior, was used by the Maya as
an astronomical observatory. Particularly to follow and track the
phases and apperances of Venus as the Morning Star or Evening Star.
These events being considered by the Maya as very prophetic,
especially relating to Warfare and Bloodletting rituals.
